experience\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a wider audience.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Anyone in an<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0organization\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">who\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is looking\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to develop\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">their\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">leadership<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This organization<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019s leaders\/stakeholders<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">changed their\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">mindset on who\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in the data-contrast=\"auto\">decision\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">to make the coaching experience increasingly accessible\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">delivered\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">immediate\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">tangible results.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n under a year<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e organization\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">surpassed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">its\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">competition in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">acquiring great talent<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">deepening\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">its<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">leadership<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0bench for<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0succession planning and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">What follows\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">is the background on<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">why\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">this organization<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">decided to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">democrati<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ze<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0coaching<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">where in the organization they decided to begin<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Before\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">my tenure with them<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, this mid-sized Canadian bank did not offer coaching to the leaders<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0who were\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">responsible for<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">large and diverse customer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">facing teams.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Starting\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">here<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">offered a <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">significant opportunity<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0as these\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">teams<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and their leaders<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0were\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">subject matter experts on how the organization got work done<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They were also<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">where the wider organization\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">often looked<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> to secure <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">its\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">talent<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">These\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">customer<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">facing\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">teams<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">routinely promoted individuals who were experts at transactional\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">processing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">their leaders\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">were asked to develop others in the same way<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">type of <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rote learning focusing\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">solely\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">on the business\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">objectives\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rather than the person<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">al<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">aspirations\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">resulted<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in a lack of engagement, high turnover\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rate<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0inconsistent performance<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Individual\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">team members<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">who were successful<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0as subject matter experts<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">were now expected to deliver that same level of performance through the teams they were leading<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">As individual<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">y delivered on objectives because the\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">job itself,\u00a0<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">company<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">culture<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">were<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">perfect fit.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">However, they were now working with teams that had different skillsets and levels of engagement.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In some cases,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">heir teams weren\u2019t as<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0naturally<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">curious<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0or the organizational fit wasn\u2019t as\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ideal<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This is when the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0bank<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0decided to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">invest\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in professional coaching<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">initial\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">goal was to help their leaders develop new ways of connecting with their employees<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0while\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">simultaneously\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">driving<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0improved<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0performance.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We set off to show these leaders how developing the whole person would continue to accelerate\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">personal\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">performance and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">that of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">others on their team.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Though<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">offering one-on-one professional coaching was <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">not\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">initially\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">an\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">o<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ption, bringing in<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">oaches to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">facilitate<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0group coaching was a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0agreed upon compromise.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Overview of Coaching Relationship\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Our coaching\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">sessions\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">began with a focus on tone of conversations between\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">leaders<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, their business\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">partners<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and their teams. Th<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e coaches introduced self-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">reflect<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ion,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">melding personal and business <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">priorities<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">forging a better understanding<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the leaders\u2019\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">decisions<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0impacted the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">organization<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The result<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">?\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">People came to work eager to learn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, and the<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">performance\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">benefits\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">of improved working relationships\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">were recognized across the broader organization<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0as well<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Once leaders were\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">encouraged to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">place<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0their teammates<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0personal goals<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0at the center<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0of each coaching conversation, key metrics such as attendance, quality of work, employee referrals and productivity\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">dramatically improved<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. In addition, the number of ideas brought forward on how<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0improve operations increased<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\"> as did the number of employees who began voluntary participation <\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">company\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">benefits\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">like<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">employee\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">stock option plan.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Employees began believing in their company leadership and wanted to share in their organization<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">s success.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">This change\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">can be and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">was traced back to\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">the introduction of professional coaching to leadership teams within the organization.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Show, Grow, Sew<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0Model<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0for Implementation<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">We<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0introduced\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Show, Grow, Sew<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0or\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201c<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">SGS<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u201d<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0model<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0to these leaders.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">First,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">w<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e shared why a new\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">approach was needed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0and<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0the benefits these leaders would\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">experience\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">with\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">coaching<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">W<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">e took the time\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">to\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">s<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">how<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">them how to implement what they\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">were<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0learning<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">. The\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">process was designed to be as\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">visceral<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0as it was intellectual<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Then\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">the process and experience\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">need<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">ed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0to\u00a0<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">g<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">row<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"none\">so that they<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0as leaders<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">could<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">step into this new learning and pass their experiences onto others.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">Lastly<\/span><span
